SPECIAL DELIVERY!

Last night, as we did our final tally, Jason gets Marcus on the phone to coordinate delivery logistics.

Marcus: “A cargo van should be a good enough size right?”
Jason looks at the group, looks around the garage: “Ummmmm. No. You’re going to need at least a twenty-footer.”

It’s Monday morning, and Marcus pulls into Jason’s driveway with a 20′ moving truck to load up everything we’ve collected over the last eight weeks:

310 Coats
252 Blankets
22 Sleeping Bags
279 Long sleeve shirts
78 Short sleeve shirts
51 Pants
41 Gloves
70 Scarves
74 Socks
83 Hats
36 Shoes
130 Kids items
10 Misc (earmuffs, etc.)

GRAND TOTAL: 1436

We’ve partnered with three Seattle organizations to distribute items according to need: The REACH Program, Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission and The Millionair Club Charity.

These organizations have dedicated their efforts to providing much needed resources to the displaced population around Seattle.

So a HUGE THANK YOU to all of you who’ve supported our cause. The past eight weeks have been a whirlwind in getting things planned, organized, and executed—but we made it all happen, thanks to your generous donations.

Warm holiday wishes to you and yours, from all of us at Blanket Seattle!

5 weeks, 1 Coat Drive and 1,026 items later…

Five weeks ago, Jeff shared his idea with a handful of strangers.

Three days ago, as we unloaded all the items collected from the coat drive into Jason’s garage, Mae looks at Jeff and asks, “Bet you didn’t think it was going to turn into this.”

Jeff shakes his head and smiles, “Nope.”

Tonight we completed our first inventory, and the tally results are in:
Coats/Sweaters/Hoodies/Jackets – 444
Blankets – 119
Sleeping Bags – 13
Gloves – 31
Scarves – 61
Socks – 59
Shoes – 31
Pants – 27
Shirts – 67
Hats – 67
Misc items (neck warmers, ear muffs)- 8
Kid’s Coats – 67
Other Kid’s Stuff – 32

Total so far: 1,026

And we’re not done yet. People are continuing to donate, so we’re still accepting items for another week or so. In the south end, there are two collection bins set up within Valley Medical Center. If you’re unable to drop items off at that location, email us to make arrangements and someone from our team will be in touch with you.

Stay tuned for the final count and follow our journey as we deliver these items to those who need it most….

Wow. You guys rocked it.

Blanket Seattle’s Coat Drive was an eye-opening and humbling experience for us—thank you so much for coming out to support our cause! We met some really amazing people. It was impressive to see the donations pouring in, reflecting the true spirit of giving this holiday season, and we’re excited to distribute items to those struggling to stay warm this winter.

Because there are so many items, we’ll be organizing and taking inventory of everything we’ve collected so far and update you soon with a tally.

If you were unable to make it to one of our locations, that’s okay—you can still donate items. Just send us an email and we’ll work with you to make arrangements.

Thank you again so much for your continued support!
